Know that this trip is about the terrain and natural environment of SA....this is not a cultural experience in terms of visiting tribes and learning about thier cultures.
The animals were close enough to touch. No rush, watch their behavior for 20 minutes.
I loved seeing parts of south africa that are off the typical tourist trail...who goes to Tzaneen?

Lizelle, the tour director, was brilliant in taking care of the logistics - she is a very skilled biking guide and a wonderful cook. Wendel, the tour guide, has an incredible knowledge of region’s natural world and provided so much context to all the sights we were experiencing. These two leaders were welcoming and accommodating always ensuring that we were well taken care of and safe.
Three of us opted for e-bikes and it made the trip super enjoyable as we did encounter a few Read More hills. We also opted for the three-day extension in Buffelshoek Camp which was another adventure of staying in a bush camp and experiencing long safari game drives. If you like biking and are planning on visiting South Africa, I would highly recommend this tour – it was fantastic!

The most memorable part of the trip was walking with cheetahs on an incredible bush walk. We loved the beautiful landscape and exploring South Africa with local guides who really knew the place.

Our family of 2 parents and 2 adult children had the trip of a lifetime: biking through breathtaking African scenery and local villages, coming face to face with some of the most majestic animals on the planet, and enjoying time with our lively, informative, and excellent guides who have deep roots in the provinces we visited: Limpopo and Mpumalanga. It is unusual to find a guided bike ride in these places - many roads are unpaved or hard to access - but the guides’ resources and knowledge of the area makes this special trip possible.
Lizélle is the tour director, and she has created an amazing itinerary that allows guests to experience the warm hospitality of private game reserves, delicious home-cooked meals on the “braai,” and unique personal encounters Read More (e.g., we toured her family’s avocado and macadamia farms), all while being a first-rate cyclist herself. She bikes all the rides with the group, and she can change a flat tire in record time.
Lizélle’s right-hand is Wendel, a delightful and extremely knowledgeable naturalist and environmentalist who also serves as van driver, chef, storyteller, troubleshooter, and historian. Wendel can expound on everything from the mating habits of hippos and giraffes, to the traits of countless birds, insects, and plants, to the history, politics, and race relations of South Africa, with appreciation for all of its complexities. Together, these two were not only engaging and fun, but also meticulous and attentive in their preparation and delivery of a high-quality experience for their guests. We loved it!

I have done a number of European cycle tours. This was different. No other tour combines great cycling and sightseeing with seeing the Big 5 ( We saw 4- couldnt find that leapord) . Cycling was varied, tar, hard sand and some rough stuff. Accommodation was brilliant, again varied ,Game Lodges and a 3 star hotel that should be 5 star.
I'm hopefully going back next year.
I took an E Bike and at 68 years of age it meant I enjoyed it as I`m not as fit as I would like to be.

Amy's most memorable part of the trip was the home cooked meals around the brai. Wendell's enthusiasm and knowledge. Wendell will bend over backward to get whatever you needed at anytime happily.
Jeane's most memorable part of the tour was Biking through the native villages and experiencing the cultures, people, seeing how they live. Also Wendell's story telling, knowledge and providing the history of the government and his country. Wendell had a great personality and always made whatever we were doing more fun!

The Tripsite team told me this would be our best trip yet. They were right! The guides, Lizelle and Wendall were terrific, very knowledgeable and accommodating. The whole South African experience - the cycling and animal experiences - safaris and bush walks were amazing. It was nice to have varied activities -day to day. Would highly recommend this trip.

Are you looking for an adventure? This is the tour for you, it is visually, mentally and physically stimulating. The most organized trip I have ever been on, the day starts early and ends with a fire around the boma, just awesome. The guides are a wealth of knowledge about the history of the country and the wild life. The mountain biking rides are well planned and exciting. Accommodations and food are top notch. You will not be disappointed regarding wild life, we saw the big 5 and much much more.

Riding with a local guide has so many advantageous. We were taken to places that we wouldn't have seen if we organized this by ourselves. We learnt so much about the country and its culture through our experienced and knowledgeable guides; and we always felt safe. The scenery was amazing. The organization of the food, accommodation and bike routes was outstanding. The highlight was riding our bikes right next to giraffes, hippos and baboons. The last night we were able to pat a cheetah and watched a bob cat join us for breakfast. I will never forget this trip. it had everything plus more.

There is not a single thing that could have been improved. Every day contained a variety of new and delightful adventures and we were constantly in awe of the things that we saw and did. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime!

The trip experience was beyond my expectations. Loved all the close encounters with the animals. The guides were very knowledgeable and always there to assist when needed. Home cooked meals were delicious. The scenery was outstanding. We toured orchards, farm lands, hills and mountains, and, of course the game farms. You do need to feel comfortable on a mountain bike and riding off road, where there is occasionally rough terrain. I definitely recommend this trip.

Our South Africa bicycle and safari tour was a trip of a lifetime. This tour was a unique experience. Our guide was a local who shared "her South Africa" with us. We cycled private game parks with giraffes, kudos, zebras and much, much more. We even got to pet a cheetah. We saw most of the big five on our game drive in Kruger as well as many species of birds, impala, wild dogs, wart hogs, and much more. I will never forget watching the elephants crossing the road right in front of us. We cycled by spectacular scenery, stayed in excellent accommodations and enjoyed great food. We were very glad that we brought binoculars with us.

Our entire group agreed that this was the trip of a lifetime! However, I spent the entire plane ride home plotting how I could take the exact same trip again. We spent the entire tour with AMAZING guides who led us through their "home" and provided us with the opportunity to enjoy sunny South Africa as the local do.
The biking on this trip is all done on mountain bikes. The terrain and rides vary, and we added miles onto the routes on a few of the days. The guides allow your group to set the bike pace, and there is always the van to tour in if riding isn't an option. However, our entire group loved all of the biking. My personal favorite was all of giraffes we saw on our bikes. It is amazing way to see the sights!
My only concern prior to this trip was the food, but we ate like kings and queens. Who knew they served cold and hot breakfast?! We enjoyed tons of fresh produce, including avocados and grapefruits straight from the trees.
This trip is a great balance of touring and biking, and if you are even considering going, you must go. You, too, will leave plotting a way to get back again. Enjoy sunny South Africa!
