Denmark’s South Funen Archipelago
Denmark
The most remarkable part of the trip was the beautiful countryside we saw on Funen, and getting a brief picture of the Danish 'personality'. I loved having an e-bike as it made the hills a breeze, although I found the bike very heavy when trying to maneuver it crossing streets etc in the cites.

The biggest downfall of the trip was the bike directions. It should be emphasized to be prepared to use digital routes and give them upon arriving. Unless able to provide them, people should be told to bring a mount for the phone on the handle bars, rain protection for the phone and earbuds. The detailed directions are not usable. We'd still be trying to get of Odense!?
The lodgings were personable and great except not crazy about Hotel Faaborg Strand. It was too far out to go on a rainy, windy night to town for dinner and they had only one selection on the dinner menu. They cater to conventions. A place in town would be much better. The ebikes were of very good quality. Giving people the rules of biking in Denmark would be useful. We had rain, cold and wind but still loved the beautiful scenery and especially loved the islands.

I think that when delivering the itinerary to the group, Tripsite should do a survey of the stopping points and tourist attractions, as on certain days, the places mentioned are closed!

I loved the trip, it was very well organized, the route was very pleasant and the bikes were good.
One thing to note is that some of the restaurants listed were not open and part of the route was closed due to construction work.

The trip was a great way to see rural eastern Germany and Denmark. The bike paths and low-trafficed roads were a great way to see a part of the world I had only seen in pictures. Saw things I never would have imagined seeing. Only for a very small fraction of the trip, well under 5%, did one have to be concerned about significant vehicle traffic. The accommodations were more than satisfactory. Please note though the accommodations met European decent quality standards NOT what some North Americans would expect. Some of the rooms were a bit smaller. no AC and low volume flush toilets. The quality of the breakfasts more than made up for any minor issues regarding the rooms. The map data was well laid out. Would definitely recommend downloading the GPX route files and using them on your phone to go from town to town.

Unfortunately, the most memorable part of the trip was the presesence of rain every day we rode. I understand that this was one of Denmark's wettest years on record.
I would like to suggest that the fitting of the bikes be more extensive other than matching the frame size to the persons height.
Because a GPS was not provided we had to purchase a phone mount so we could use their app to follow the route maps. Don't plan on using the printed directions otherwise you'll miss a lot of the landscape.
We did find it an issue that the route maps provided did not always have us arriving at our hotel at the end of the day. Instead they left us at a location that was often miles away from the hotel.
Overall, the hotels were very clean and comfortable. My only negative comment about the hotels was that some were located in sections of town that required us to uber to dining and sightseeing options. Breakfast was always plentiful and delicious.

What I did like about this trip was that it was not solid biking for 5-6 days. I liked that we had a few off-days during the week to recoup and explore the villages, with optional rather than required biking on those days. I really enjoyed the towns where we stopped! All were charming and gave us enough to do but were not overwhelming in things to see. The option to have an e-bike made it more doable for some in our party, so overall it made it an enjoyable experience for all.
I would advise others to make sure you pack ample snacks and water, particularly on the first day. There were no obvious places to stop and regroup so unlike on some of the other days and we definitely felt that at the end of the day.
Finally, I want to shout out to Michael from - our arrival in Odense was delayed by a day due to unforeseen circumstances, and he was in constant communication with us to ensure we go sorted on our bikes and were on our way, even though we were behind schedule. He was also readily available to help when other minor issues arose. Excellent customer service - he certainly made us feel like we had someone watching out for us.

We very much enjoyed our 7 day bicycle tour in Northern Zealand with a lovely day in Sweden. We had sunshine throughout, so that was special. The route was more varied than I expected and the villages, coast, forest and strand were great riding. Route directions were thorough and direct, and although we missed a few turns, Google map righted us easily. Acomodations were excellent and the breakfasts fueled us with delicious options. I definitely advise including the day in Sweden as although similar to Denmark, there were subtle and interesting differences. Working with Tripsite was easy from first discovering their trips online to our last night in Denmark. Thank you!

We rode through some beautiful parts of Denmark and Sweden and saw some very interesting places. We very much enjoyed spending time in Copenhagen, having chosen to have an extra couple of nights before the trip started. It’s a great city to start from.

The destination cities are interesting to visit: architecture, history and beautiful cemetery parks. The hotel accommodations were good but in several instances away from historical attractions and sites. Unseasonal weather handicapped the cycling. The baggage transfer service was efficient and timely. Roskilde and Helsingoer were memorable.

Hard to list one thing - many museums in Copenhagen and the canal boat ride; maritime museum in Helsingor, Viking ship village in Roskilde, riding along the sea, fine breakfasts, friendly and helpful Danish people. It was a bit hillier than I expected on a couple of days. Printed and phone app instructions were excellent.

The weather went North: 14C feeling like 12, very windy gusts of plus 45 km/h and rain for 10 days now. So wonderful train service replaced the bicycles. We prepared for 17 to 22 C weather so our clothing was inappropriate.

The accommodations were comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was hearty, healthy and generous — we feasted on rye bread, croissants, hard and soft cheeses, eggs, ham, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables. sausage, yogurt, juice, coffee…every day began with an amazing buffet.
Riding the ferries between islands was fun and an effective way to appreciate the archipelago that makes up Funen. We saw some magnificent sailing ships hailing from Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and of course Denmark. People were warm and friendly.
Our luggage was Read More transported as promised and delivered promptly to our hotel. That’s a big bonus when you’re wanting to shower before dinner. The routes were an appropriate length — leisurely completed in 4-6 hours with time to spare for a picnic lunch or visiting a local attraction.
This was our sixth self-guided tour with TripSite. As with previous tours, we like to use our mobile phones for real-time GPS guidance. We downloaded the BikeGPX tracks provided by the vendor. In several cases, we discovered that the tracks did not correspond to reality. The preprogrammed routes are extremely useful. But only if they are accurate. One time we were directed across a soft, sandy beach that was not appropriate for cycling; another time we were directed to ride across a golf course fairway where clearly no bike path existed. And another day we just disregarded the suggested route because we weren’t provided with enough time and information to catch the ferry.
And that brings to mind another item that might benefit from attention: the e-bikes we were assigned had slick tires and a heavy frame. They were great for cycling on asphalt or packed gravel. They carried our loaded panniers easily. But some portions of the route took us out on sandy spits. Or on single track through overgrown pastures. We thought it would have been better to plan the route keeping in mind the bike’s capabilities.
We give this trip a four-star rating because of the bike-track issues. If the bike tracks are fixed we would enthusiastically rate this trip a five-star experience.
Denmark is spectacularly beautiful. Cities and rural areas are clean and well-cared for. The citizens have a commitment to green and sustainable energy. We are looking forward to returning someday.

Our e-bikes were reliable and durable, enabling us to cover many miles easily with loaded saddlebags. All the inns/hotels had dedicated parking for guests’ bikes. Breakfast buffets were outstanding with generous offerings to get us started for a day of cycling. BikeGPX was extremely useful in providing turn-by-turn guidance in real time. Our local bicycle/luggage transfer person was prompt, knowledgeable and courteous about scheduled meetings and bike drop-off/ delivery of our luggage every afternoon.
We would return again to Denmark in August in a heartbeat! Read More The summer temperatures are cool and comfortable—especially important to us as we hear of visitors sweltering in southern Europe now. We encountered only occasional rain showers and overcast skies kept the temperature perfect for cycling.

The trip was wonderful. Riding along the coast line of Denmark was full of spectacular views. The one day in Sweden was beautiful. The bikes were very comfortable and rode well. The pick up and drop off of our luggage was great. The luggage was always at our hotels when we arrived. The hotels were great and the breakfasts were good. We really enjoyed this trip and the opportunity to see different parts of Denmark and Sweden.

The gps worked well, but it would be nice to have attractions or sites on the gps as well. Would have been nice to stay on paved roads, because trails were muddy and wer (weather did not cooperate for us). My bike was a coaster bike with very poor brakes. Very unhappy with. The other bikes in our group of 5 were ok, but brakes needed to be adjusted.

The accommodations were very good in each case.
The GPS for the 3 of us had problems and others riding with us from Hong Kong (They may not have been trip site) had GPS problems also.

We had a fantastic time! Cycling along the coast in both Denmark and Sweden (just for the day) was beautiful. We also really loved cycling through the small towns and through lush forests; it gave us a chance to see the rural life after being in the bustling city of Copenhagen. The variety of the route was perfect. A suggestion...at Kokkedal Slot on the outskirts of Horsholm, the nearby golf club restaurant was a great place for dinner with tasty food and a relaxing atmosphere.

We had a few places that weren't necessarily on the map, but worth mentioning -
- During the Sweden loop, just before Sofeiro Slott is a lovely farm bakery, Brödkultur. Definitely worth the stop.
- On the Helsingør to Hillerød ride, near Havreholm is a zip-line and disc golf course, Til-Tops. The zip-lines Read More weren't open the day we were there, but the area is very cool and worth hiking.
- Also in Havreholm we found Sylvest Keramik - A ceramics shop run by wonderful couple. Very cool art and just great people.
- Outside Værløse on the final day, we came across a wonderful little brew pub and restaurant at the edge of the forest, Bryggeri Skovlyst. A great place to stop for lunch and a great local beer.
Enjoy!

My son and I loved our bike tour of northern Denmark. The hotels were great - especially the breakfasts. Christian set us up with the bikes and moved our luggage to the next hotel. He seemed committed to making sure we had a good trip. I highly recommend this tour.

The Highlights of Northern Zealand trip was great. The lodgings were good, especially the palace (Kokkadal). The breakfasts were all excellent with both variety and quality. The scenery and the sights are as seen on tripsite. Denmark is truly a biker's dream. Christian from Ruby Rejser was very helpful and kind. The only problem with this tour was the GPS. I have never used one before so I do not know if there are better ones but what we were given did not work well. They were tiny and difficult to read and they kept freezing. As well, the maps that we were given were not detailed enough. We met a couple from France who shared the app given to them by their travel agent and it worked quite well. There were two days that we used it when our GPS froze. I do believe that Ruby Rejser is obligated to provide equipment that works.
