Welcome to some of the best hikes in New England! This guided hiking tour in the USA combines two of New England’s iconic destinations, New Hampshire and Maine.
The towering peaks of New Hampshire's White Mountains present a spectacular backdrop for the first part of your tour and the second part will find you hiking the iconic coastal landscape of Acadia and its surroundings.
This is quintessential New England: spectacular waterfalls, mountainous hardwood forests, majestic alpine peaks, ragged coastline, wildflowers, wildlife, and seafood!

Itinerary
Day 1: Arethusa Falls, 3 mi.
Day 2: Crawford Notch, 5.75 mi.
Day 3: Caribou Mountain, 8.8 mi.
Day 4: Appalachian Trail, 6.8 mi.
Day 5: Acadia National Park via the Gulf Hagas, 6 mi.
Day 6: Acadia National Park, 4.5 mi.
Day 7: Cadillac Mountain, 3.5 mi.Day 1: Arethusa Falls, 3 mi.
Pick up for your hike in Maine, is at 9 am at the Ocean Gateway in Portland, Maine for transfer to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The night in Portland is not included in your tour price. Today you visit the stunning Arethusa Falls, the tallest waterfall in the White Mountains. These gorgeous horsetail-style falls drop a stunning 160 feet. This is an easy hike along a stream, a great start to your weeklong adventure. (L, D)Elevation gain: 300 meters
Accommodation: The Mount Washington HotelDay 2: Crawford Notch, 5.75 mi.
Crawford Notch is a major pass through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Located in the heart of Crawford Notch, Mt. Tom offers nice views of the surrounding mountains and the Pemigewasset Wilderness. (B, L, D)Elevation gain: 651 meters
Accommodation: The Mount Washington HotelDay 3: Caribou Mountain, 8.8 mi.
Situated on the Maine/New Hampshire border, the Mahoosuc Mountains are part of the White Mountains that extend into Maine. Today’s hike of Caribou Mountain offers hardwood forests, several waterfalls, and stunning views from the top. (B, L, D)Elevation gain: 515 meters elevation
Accommodation: The Bethel InnDay 4: Appalachian Trail, 6.8 mi.
Today, you hike inn to inn along the Appalachian Trail. This 7-mile hike along the trail, passing mountains ponds and across summits to the next road junction where a van waits to shuttle you into Bethel. (B, L, D)Elevation gain: 818 meters
Accommodation: The Bethel InnDay 5: Acadia National Park via the Gulf Hagas, 6 mi.
You transfer across the state of Maine to Acadia National Park. The 5-hour drive is broken up by a visit to Gulf Hagas, called the Grand Canyon of the Northeast. Gulf Hagas is a gentle walk along the rim of a canyon carved through granite. (B, L, D)Elevation gain: minimal
Accommodation: The Inn on Mt DesertDay 6: Acadia National Park, 4.5 mi.
The twin peaks of the Sargent and Penobscot Mountains are today’s conquests. Located in the heart of Acadia National Park, the hike of these two summits spends much of the day on a ridgeline with views of the ocean and Acadia National Park. (B, L, D)Elevation gain: 400 meters

The highest point on the Eastern Seaboard between Maine and Brazi, Cadillac is the first place in America to see the sunrise. You shuttle up to catch the sunrise before a leisurely hike down and a noon departure for Portland. (B)Elevation gain: 466 meters

You will be accommodated in three different hotels during your tour. On each day’s details, you will find the name of your overnight accommodation. On your first two nights, you will stay in the Omni Mount Washington Resort, which is, as the website boasts, a favorite New England retreat of presidents, poets, and celebrities. The following evening finds you at the Bethel Inn Resort, nestled in the sprawling countryside of Bethel, Maine, just steps from the National Historic District. Your last two nights will find you in Bar Harbor, Maine, accommodated in the oceanfront Harborside Hotel.

Airport Info
Travel details will vary depending on your location. Pickup for your tour start will be in Portland. International travelers may find that the closest and most practical airport is Boston Logan. For those traveling from within the USA or Canada, the most practical airport to fly in to is Portland International Jetport (PVM).
Local Travel
Greater Portland Transit District METRO provides bus service throughout Portland and the surroundings. Route #5 travels to and from the Portland Jetport into downtown Portland. Taxi service is available all day. If flying into Boston Logan, there is a very good bus service from Boston to Portland.
Climate
Maine has one of the most comfortable statewide summer climates in the country. Peak temperatures normally occurring in July average about 70°F throughout the state.

Travel Documents
For US citizens, documents for travel to/from Maine are the same as for any other U.S. state. If you are flying to Maine from within the United States, you only need a valid government photo ID. A list of accepted forms of ID can be found on the TSA website.
For Non-U.S. citizens a passport is required. In addition, please research documentation and visas needed to enter the United States of America.
