Overview
Answer the call of the wild and embark on an outstanding helicopter flight to the Australian Outback, enjoying an exquisite lunch at the Wheatsheaf Hotel and perhaps even an equestrian encounter!
Lift off is from the heli-pad in the tranquil Hoffnungsthal Valley, from where you’ll soar over the resplendent vistas of Rowland Flat, home to the famous Jacob’s Creek winery and some of the largest wine tanks in the country. Soaring over the valley floor, you’ll track northwest over Tanunda, Nuriootpa, and finally, over Allendale. Your helicopter will land stylishly within meters of the entrance to the Wheatsheaf Hotel!
Once at the Wheatsheaf, you’ll be greeted by Mark and Chelsea, who love to entertain, and to provide gorgeous food! You may even meet a local legend - Tom Willoughby - accompanied by his famous horses who’ve appeared alongside Simon Baker and Sam Neil on the silver screen. Tom’s full of tall tales and sensational stories, and the horses love an affectionate stroke whilst you enjoy a refreshing beer. Having experienced the wild of the Outback, settle down for a sumptuous pub lunch at the Wheatsheaf, deciding from their excellent menu.
Back onboard the helicopter, you’ll fly over the fascinating historic Kapunda, which claims to have the most haunted hotel in the Outback - the North Kapunda Hotel! Experience a little shiver as you soar over the south of the town, gazing over the huge ‘Map the Miner’ statue before you’re landed elegantly back in the Hoffnungsthal Valley.

Health and safety policy
Weight restrictions
-
Each flight has a maximum total weight limit including fuel, passengers etc.
-
Maximum individual weight is 130kg.
-
Combined maximum passenger weight is 270kg per flight.
- Please inform us at the time of booking of ALL accurate passenger weights.
Height restrictions:
Children must be over 100cm tall to fly. A child must be able to sit independently on their own seat. Children are not allowed to sit on laps.
Flying while pregnant:
The decision to fly at any stage of pregnancy is entirely up to the individual. There are no pressure changes or manoeuvres that could cause discomfort.
Health conditions or impairments:
- Please let us know prior to booking if adjustments will need to be made. Each person is different, and most disabilities can be catered to with prior notice.
- A golf buggy is available to assist people with walking difficulties out to the helicopter.
- The door to the helicopter can be removed to help people with limited mobility enter the helicopter.
Motion sickness:
This is a scenic tour, not a thrill ride. Most people do not experience motion sickness. The flight is smooth, and turns are slow and gentle. We recommend that if you are prone to motion sickness, that you do not use your camera or phone - looking at these screens can create distorted vision, which can cause motion sickness. If you are particularly prone to motion sickness, anti-motion sickness medication is a good idea.
