Overview
Experience the eerie atmosphere of one of South Australia’s most haunted buildings and a pub lunch at the Best Country Pub in South Australia 2021 (rated by Expedia/Last Minute)! As well as exquisite dining, you’ll enjoy a historic tour of this haunted landmark and an exceptional helicopter flight over the Hoffnungsthal Valley and Murray River. It’s truly a day to remember!
As you soar over the spectacular Australian landscape, watch as the gorgeous green of rolling hills transforms into the rust-colored red of the flat country that surrounds the historic Overland Corner Hotel. This is authentic Australian farming country, bounded by the expansive swamplands of the marvelous Murray River.
The history of the Overland Corner is intriguing and complex. It was once a camping ground for the local aboriginal people and drovers, then developed into a point along the timber supply route. This timber was used to fuel the paddle steamers used to transport prospectors up the Murray River. On March 13th, 1860, William Brand received the first hotelkeeper’s license for the Overland Corner Hotel, the oldest building in the Riverland and reputedly one of the most haunted buildings in South Australia!
Delve into this deliciously complex history on a historical tour of the pub before relaxing with one or two drinks, chosen from the largest selection of independent and local craft beers/spirits/wines in the Riverland. You’ll soon discover why the Overland Corner Hotel was voted Best Country Pub in South Australia 2021 by Last Minute/Expedia. With its focus on local produce and the gorgeous food you’ll enjoy for your pub lunch, this is a hotel where hosting is done properly.
Once you’ve had your fill of this remarkable pub’s hospitality, as well as its haunted history, it’s time to reboard the helicopter. You’ll behold the breathtaking beauty of the Barossa Valley, as well as the glory of the Murray River, Truro, and Nuriootpa. Beneath your feet, a vast landscape of wineries, towns, and wildlife rises and rolls, before you’re landed elegantly back in the Hoffnungsthal Valley.

Motion sickness:
This is a scenic tour, not a thrill ride. Most people do not experience motion sickness. The flight is smooth, and turns are slow and gentle. If you are particularly prone to motion sickness, anti-motion sickness medication is a good idea.
