Overview
For the ultimate inland adventure day, look no further than the Coba, Punta Laguna & Cenote Adventure Tour. On this thrilling expedition, you’ll delve into the incredible history of the ancient Mayan civilization on a visit to the awe-inspiring Coba archeological ruins. Then, you’ll make the most of the unimaginable opportunities at Punta Laguna, including lake canoeing and ziplining! An unforgettable swim in the crystal clear waters of a cenote and a memorable lunch round off this remarkable expedition into the Mexican wilderness.
Deep in the exotic jungle of northeastern Yucatan, partially concealed amidst the exuberant foliage, ruins of monumental Mayan pyramids, palaces, squares, and monuments peer out between the leaves and vines. These ancient structures have battled the forces of nature for thousands of years, standing fast as emblems of the mysterious Mayan civilization.
You’ll discover the awe-inspiring Mayan icons of Coba by bicycle, navigating vines and tree roots as you ride to these mesoamerican marvels, immersed in the sounds and sights of the jungle as exotic birdsong rings overhead and enormous leaves brush over your shoulders.
As your expert guide will explain, Coba was built around a series of small lakes to aid the agricultural development of what is thought to have become the largest pre-Hispanic settlement of the Classic period in northern Yucatan. You’ll explore the five awe-inspiring architectural spots around the lake, cycling between them along ancient interconnecting paths.
Following your fascinating adventure in Coba, your guide will lead you to the eco-tourism paradise of Punta Laguna for a host of thrilling and memorable activities. Each activity is centered around respecting and admiring the ecological balance and majesty of the jungle, and you’ll certainly be appreciating nature from many different perspectives! Paddle in your canoe over the crystal clear waters of the lakes and cenotes, and even zipline over their sublime surfaces as you embrace your inner Tarzan!
To make the most of this incredible ecological haven, you’ll follow guides through the enormous semi-deciduous jungle, spotting exotic wildlife you’ve never before set eyes on, including vibrant species of birds, mammals, orchids, insects, and bromeliads.
Following your foray into exotic wildlife watching, you’ll enjoy a sublime swimming experience in the tranquil waters of a cenote, even jumping from the cliffs if you’re brave! Once you’ve dried off, you’ll head to the little village of Nuevo Durango for a memorable lunch with a local family who’ll be thrilled to guide you around their gardens (where many of the ingredients for your lunch are grown), medicinal plants, and animal rehabilitation projects, ending your tour with a personal touch.
