Overview
Bob Marley - the legendary king of reggae - has had an inestimable influence on the history of music. His life, from his early upbringing on the rough streets of Kingston through to his formation of the Wailers in Trench Town, his revolutionizing of Rasta-inspired music, the One Love concert and his eventual death from Melanoma in 1981 (aged only 36 years old), is an intoxicating tale of bravery, virtuosity, struggle, and humanity.
The Bob Marley Experience day tour is unbeatable in its authenticity and breadth - take in the sights of Trench Town, including the Trench Town Culture Yard and Recording Studio, record your own reggae soundtrack, and marvel at the mesmerizing exhibitions inside the Bob Marley Museum.
Trench Town Culture Yard is where young Bob Marley, as an apprentice welder, was first exposed to the ska records that would shape his future musical visions. It was here that Marley later formed his vocal group - the Wailers - with bandmates Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. Trench Town was their launch pad, a poverty-stricken town that would go on to produce some of the most inspiring, life-affirming, and empowering music the world had ever seen. Bob Marley and his trio from Trench Town transformed the future for many disenfranchised West Indians living in Jamaica and brought ska-inspired reggae music to the forefront of musical culture.
Fancy yourself as a Marley in the making? Take to the mic in the Trench Town Recording Studio for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play and record your own reggae soundtrack. Day tours don’t get much cooler than this!
Then, enjoy a walking tour around the wonders of the brilliant Bob Marley Museum - the legend’s former home and base for the Tuff Gong record label founded by the Wailers in 1970. All the rooms in Marley’s house have been preserved to authentically show the house exactly as Bob loved it, with his former possessions preserved in their rightful places. Here you’ll find items of his favorite clothing, his Grammy Lifetime Achievement award, an awe-inspiring assortment of platinum and gold records, his back-up singers bold costumes, and a state-of-the-art theater projecting films of Bob Marley’s unbelievable life.
This walking tour takes you to where Bob Marley - as a man and a musician - was made. Stroll in his footsteps for an unrivaled experience of closeness with his unwavering legacy as one of the world’s most influential superstars. It’s an absolutely unmissable opportunity for any Marley, reggae, or music history fan.
