The Cyclades are the most famous island group in the Aegean Sea, featuring gorgeous sandy beaches, delicious cuisine, and warm, hospitable people.
This guided bike tour, starting and ending in Athens, takes you to some of the most scenic parts of this epic region, including Syros - the capital - and Naxos - home to the most beautiful beach in the world. In between, you will cycle through picturesque villages and stunning countryside, with the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean always beckoning.
At the end of your cycling day, enjoy the incredible sunsets of the Cyclades!

Day 1: Arrival in Athens
Day 2: Athens - Syros, 24 mi. (38 km)
Day 3: Syros - Naxos, 15 mi. (24 km)

Day 6: Naxos - Athens

Day 1: Arrival in Athens
Arrival at Athens International Airport (ATH). Our local tour guide will meet you and transfer you to the first hotel. After a short briefing, you’ll head to dinner (included) at a local tavern, where you'll get to know the rest of the group and discuss the week ahead.Sample accommodation: Acropolis Hill
Day 2: Athens - Syros, 24 mi. (38 km)
Your adventure starts with an early morning ferry ride, heading south to the magnificent island of Syros. Syros is the capital of the Cyclades Islands complex and used to be one of the most significant islands of the Cycladic civilization from ancient years. Now it is well-known for its art, architecture, and world-class chefs. You will begin pedaling from the coastal town of Ermoupoli and continue around the island coast, where the Aegean Sea offers breathtaking views and much more to explore.Elevation gain: 2000 ft/609 m

Day 3: Syros - Naxos, 15 mi. (24 km)
Another ferry will take you to the magical island of Naxos. After settling into your hotel, you'll start cycling from the town of Naxos towards the ancient Kouros statues, to Eggares village. Eggares is a small farming village just a few miles from Naxos, surrounded by two streams. Wandering around the village, you'll see picturesque churches and two restored olive presses one of which was built in 1885. You'll pass by the ancient kouros statue in Apollon Village, which stands 10m high and remains unfinished. Returning to Naxos, you'll enjoy dinner at a local tavern.Elevation gain:1300 ft/396 m

Day 4: Naxos, 30 mi. (48 km)
After having breakfast, you will get on the bike once again for a longer route around the island of Naxos and up to the remote mountainous traditional villages. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the most beautiful beach of the Aegean Sea, Mikri Vigla Beach, which is famous for its golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Once more, you will enjoy the natural beauty of Naxos.Elevation gain: 1500 ft/457 m

Day 5: Sailing around the small Cyclades
This morning you will board another boat, but this time a sailboat! Today's adventure combines remote beaches, crystal-clear waters, snorkeling, and a different view of the Cycladic Islands. You will sail around some of the most incredible viewpoints, highlighting the rugged beauty of the area. You will return to Naxos late afternoon for your last overnight on this amazing island.Sample accommodation: Aeolis Hotel
Day 6: Naxos - Athens
You'll hop on the last ferry of the tour arriving in Athens. Today you'll visit the Acropolis, the most famous ancient archaeological site in the world and a highlight of the week! Here you will have the opportunity to see the most famous ancient building in Greece, the great Parthenon. After visiting the Acropolis and the surrounding historical area of Athens, you will return to the hotel. Your trip is almost at an end, but not without one last amazing Greek dinner!Sample accommodation: Acropolis Hill
Day 7: Departure from Athens
The tour concludes after breakfast, you will be transported back to the airport, or we can arrange extra nights in this beautiful city! -

Skill Level — Moderate
This guided tour takes place on 90% paved roads, 10% gravel or dirt. Most of them are secondary roads with little to no traffic. The elevation is listed in the day-to-day itinerary.

Climate
Greece has a typical Mediterranean climate, which lends itself to mild winters and dry summers. The best times to visit Athens are spring and autumn, especially from mid-April to late May and from mid-September to early October.
Day of Rest
Days 5 and 6 include non-biking activities meant for relaxation and sightseeing by boat and on foot.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory for anyone taking part in this tour. Please bring your own or you can request to hire one free of charge.
